Each New Natural sculpture was inspired by phenomena of modern life: digital hyper-stimulation, teledildonics, cosmetic psychopharmacology, and the ubiquity of corporate influence in the United States. Unprecedented technologies are intersecting with consumer culture and have begun pushing us to experience the synthetic so frequently that we've begun perceiving it as indistinguishable from the natural. Delicious ersatz replicas can transcend their origins: Cheetos, internet porn, Prozac.
Artifacts from the present were encased and displayed as preserved relics from the past. The sensory experience of each artifact was mediated by a substrate (earth, light, gelatin) infused with synthetic components.
